Operation wolf cabinet
I picked this cabinet up because the price was definitely right. The game worked but the sound didn’t (still doesn’t more on that later) and that cabinet was in let’s just say terrible conditions. The cabinet looked like it was in someone’s damp basement for the last 20 years.
First, I went to work trying to get sound and found that the speaker was good, I then turned all the volume adjusters to the max and I could hear static and a pop every now and then. I then took out the board set and cleaned them as it was clear a mouse had lived in the cabinet.
After cleaning and reseating all the socketed chips on the soundboard and testing all the caps. When I plugged it all back together I found that sometimes when it was turned on it would start playing through all the sound effects. This made me jump as all the sound was still on max and it started with a scream. So I guess I’ll have to do more fault finding on the board I’m thinking its the sound board cpu which is a z80.
